Since many years Agorà is a national meeting , where the youth of ACLI take care of social and political themes, which are interesting for the world of youths. The year 2002-2003 is about Europe, in the whole sense it’s called “ farmers of stars.”.
We decided to organize this event in Friuli Venezia- Giulia, because we think that this region is a bridge- region between the western and the eastern parts of Europe and because of that a good place for such a meeting where young people from many countries will participate.
Agora would like to reach several goals :
1-To educate the youths, to get one sensibility to open their minds and to confrontate them with others :Those aims are supposed to make first steps for building a real European citizenship. During the event a lot of youth from the Eastern Europe will carry their own culture and share it with Italian youths during work-shops and artistic laboratories.
2-To inform the youth about the most important themes of european politic and its problems :
European constitution, immigration policy, future of employment in the UE, new family laws, the human rights, etc…
3-To help the youth to express themselves through particular animation techniques, allowing them to develop their personal opinion , their own point of view , to participate in the future of Europe.
4-to visit special places, which were significant for the history of Italy , places which are symbolizing multicultural coexistence : for example Trieste e Gorizia, Aquilea and Cividate del Friuli. Those places have a great political importance for the Italian history.
THEME:
We choose this theme because we want to make aware about the importance of Europe in the future. In fact, the new generation can help to build a political and economical Europe, because she is the first who experiences the feeling of an European citizenship.
Events like Agorà, which directly involves the youths, want them to know european institutions and to make clear that they are working to create a steady peace.
To build a real united Europe means also to give importance to the cultures of the eastern countries which are entering in the UE. They are culturally riches in history and traditions. At the end Agorà will try to present every cultures, to understand it and make it to a common heritage.
But we have to consider that in the future of Europe there are some obscure points, some problems and difficulties: the enter of the eastern countries in UE, the changes in working world and in the school, the creation of an “opened” society, in which we can all meet and get to know other cultures and traditions.
In order to make this possible, we have to try to create a scenery for the future. Agorà will be an event with and for youths. It will try create and keep a relation between youths and institutions.
The vocation towards Europe of GIOVANI DELLE ACLI is by now a long tradition , confirmed by the recent commitment of the association in the program “youths meet Europe”, through the realization of research which involved 10.000 youths in 6 european countries and a trip to Strasburg to visit the European Parliament and to Nizza when the Human Rights declaration was proclaimed.
THE STYLE:
During Agorà almost 800 youths, from 18 to 28 will come from every part of Italy and 100 youths from european countries to Lignano Sabbiadoro as representants of different youths associations.
The event, organized by “youths” of national Acli, will be one of the most important event for all Acli organizations and also for FAI ( Acli international federation ).
During the meeting special guests will take part in the program : Romano Prodi ( the president of European commission ), Franco Frattini ( Italian foreign Secretary ), on. Oscar Luigi Scalfaro ( ex-president of Italy ), Vaclav Havel ( ex- president of Czech Republic ).
The journeys will be organized with different working and discussion methods to involve as much as possible participants and make them protagonists:
1-WORKING IN GROUPS: we will study in depth the themes about the journeys through animations and discussion groups guided by animators.
2-LABORATORY OF EXPRESSION: we will use the arts as a form of youthful expression and we hope we will get new thoughts, impressions, feelings on themes we’ ll talk about ( dance, theatre, music laboratories ).
3-WORKSHOPS :we will also talk about work, school, Europe, human rights, economy, in co-operation with others youths associations.
4-CONCERTS AND FUNNY EVENINGS : at Agorà, some musician groups will take part, coming from all the region, giving them the possibility to express themselves and to play in front of youth audience.
THE ORGANIZATION:
The group of Youth of ACLI will take care of all organization ( the logistic , the animation, the advertising campaign , the press office ).
